Always Wash the Cuttings First

It makes no difference whether you purchased the cuttings or they are your own—you must wash them before proceeding.
I use an old toothbrush, water, and a little dishwashing soap. You can imagine the rest: I brush them thoroughly, rinse them with water, and then set them on a dry paper towel to air dry.
Don’t skip this step.
Easy peasy.
