Announcing The Fig Tree Learning Exchange Event

This post is literally hot off the press.

The Recreation and Parks Department of the Village of Walden, together with The Fig Tree Guy, is proud to host the first bi-annual Fig Tree Learning Exchange, a unique gathering created specifically for fig tree enthusiasts of all experience levels. I created a web page for this event.

Where: Anita L. Vandermark Community Center, Community Room, located at 97 Sherman Ave., Walden, N.Y. 12586
Who: All are welcome!
When: May 9th, 2026, from 11 am – 3 pm
Cost: FREE!

During this event, participants will have the opportunity to exchange fig tree cuttings (rooted or unrooted) or potted fig trees with fellow growers, share tips and stories, discuss real-world fig-growing experiences, or simply mingle. It’s a chance to connect with a community that’s just as passionate about fig trees as you are, whether you’ve been growing figs for years or are just getting started.

At 11:30 am, I—The Fig Tree Guy—will present a short, informative talk on fig tree care, including the benefits and drawbacks of growing figs in pots versus in the ground. This practical discussion will help you decide which growing method best fits your space, climate, and lifestyle.

To keep things relaxed and enjoyable, beverages and light snacks will be provided.

Whether you join us to learn, trade cuttings, or simply mingle and talk figs, you’ll leave with new knowledge, new connections, and a deeper appreciation for growing this remarkable tree.

We look forward to seeing you there!

It’s the very first one and I have no idea even if anyone will show up.
