Fig Tree Learning Exchange Event

The Recreation and Parks Department of the Village of Walden and The Fig Tree Guy are hosting the first bi-annual Fig Tree Learning Exchange event.

Where: Anita L. Vandermark Community Center, Community Room, 97 Sherman Ave., Walden, N.Y. 12586
Who: All are welcome!
When: May 9th, 2026, from 11 am – 3 pm
Cost: FREE!

The Anita L. Vandermark Community Center is nestled within 98.9 acres of the James W. Olley Community Park.

At 11:30 a.m., The Fig Tree Guy will deliver a presentation, packed with practical insights about fig tree care, along with the benefits and drawbacks of potted versus in-ground fig trees, and then open the floor for an interactive question-and-answer session where attendees can dive deeper into topics of interest.

During this event, participants will have the opportunity to exchange fig tree cuttings (rooted or unrooted) or potted fig trees with fellow growers, share tips and stories, discuss real-world fig-growing experiences, or simply mingle.

Connect with a community of people who are just as passionate about fig trees as you are. To keep things relaxed and enjoyable, beverages and light snacks will be provided.

Whether you’ll join us to learn, trade, or simply mingle and talk about fig trees, you’ll leave with new knowledge and new connections.
