Doing the “fig shuffle”

It’s February 18th, 2024, and this winter has been nothing short of relentless. The snow has piled high, the wind howls through the bare trees, and the biting cold lingers, making every day feel like a battle against the elements. Yet, amidst this icy gloom, a small triumph unfolds—my cuttings have rooted beautifully, their delicate tendrils anchoring firmly, and their tops bursting with vibrant new growth.

Though the world outside remains a frozen tundra, far too hostile for these tender young plants, I do what I can to bring them a little joy. I place them by the window, allowing them to bask in the soft embrace of natural light, a taste of the world they will one day thrive in. With loving care, I rotate each container every 30 minutes, ensuring they grow strong and even. Every hour, I swap them out, giving each one its turn in the coveted sunlit spot. It’s a labor of love, a ritual of devotion. Amore!
