My Figgies Get A Gentle Introduction to the Great Outdoors

On Monday, March 10th, 2025, the forecast promised a warm 60°F day, and I knew exactly what I had to do—it was time to take all my figgies outside for their first taste of fresh air and natural sunlight.

Most of them, nestled in their plastic cups, had been thriving indoors—pushing out lush green leaves, sturdy branches, and, of course, those beautiful roots. But now, they were ready for the next step in their journey.

A Labor of Love

What I thought would be a simple task turned into quite the marathon. It took me over an hour to carefully transport them outside, arranging them so they could bask in the warmth. But the real challenge? Bringing them back in. That process alone took me a full two hours! By the end of the day, I was completely exhausted—but it was all worth it.

To keep them happy and thriving, I gave them a healthy watering enhanced with fertilizer—a well-deserved treat after their big move. They soaked up at least three hours of full sun, but since it was their first time outside, I made sure not to overwhelm them. Hardening off is a delicate process, and sure enough, a few plants got a little droopy from the sudden exposure. But once they were brought back inside, they perked right up, adjusting beautifully.

I AM SICK AND TIRED OF THE WINTER!
