Keep Everything Clean and Sterile

Each year, as I work with cuttings, I take great care to prevent cross-contamination. To ensure this, I diligently clean my tools both before and after every use. My go-to disinfectant is hydrogen peroxide, which I purchase from the local pharmacy. I soak a paper towel with it and carefully wipe down each tool, ensuring they’re sanitized and ready for the task at hand.

A couple of times a year, I take this process a step further. I completely dismantle my tools—pruners and the like—and give them a thorough, deep cleaning. It’s a bit of extra effort, but as the saying goes, “better safe than sorry.” This routine not only safeguards the health of my plants but also keeps my tools in excellent condition for the long run.
